Oh Baby!

Twins! Adorable twins! With a sweet and lovely big sister and two fun parents, this combination made for a wonderful afternoon of photo fun! It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Santa Barbara and we met downtown at Alice Keck Park. I feel so lucky to have been able to do this shoot, as the family gets ready to share images of their new babies with their family and friends, and introduce to the world the two newest members of the Hayden family. What a special time in their lives and what a great family! My favorite part of how these images turned out, is when you look at them, you just see love in all their faces. Congratulations Hayden family!

Christina & Miguel (and Spike too! )

I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to photograph the engagement of Christina & Miguel! What a sweet and fun couple! Which of course means it was a fun shoot! What a joy to spend a couple of hours with them, a few members of their wedding party and the adorable Spike. They have planned their wedding date for next year in beautiful Sonoma where the bride is from, so the couple wanted their engagement photos taken in the grooms hometown of Santa Barbara. We covered the town! We shot everywhere from the Santa Barbara Mission and Rose Garden, the historic Santa Barbara Courthouse, a funky urban neighborhood downtown, the Oreana Winery, and last but not least, Butterfly Beach which is near and dear to the couple's hearts. Christina and Miguel...best wishes for an amazing wedding day surround by your families and friends and may you have a lifetime of happiness and love that is so obvious now in your smiles!

I just finished a custom wedding album for Marcia and Garrett...It seems like just yesterday that this beautiful couple had their engagement photos done! It was such a blast getting to know them and do a shoot at the beach where they would be married. Before we knew it their beautiful July 16th wedding at Rincon Beach Club was here and a fun post wedding photo shoot at Knapp's Castle. It has been such a joy working with them, the bride loves vintage style and design as much as I do! Big wishes to you Marcia and Garrett for a lifetime of love and happiness!

A Very Special Anniversary

Five years ago today, a very special couple got married in the rose garden at the Santa Barbara Mission. Happy Anniversary Randy and Andrea Cramer! Today, my husband I celebrated 5 years since the day we met! That's right, we met at a wedding. Thinking back to how the events played out still makes me smile. A chance meeting of my then friend/landlord and the mother of the groom in an airport is what connected me to the couple to begin with. Two women chatting, one needing a photographer and one knowing one, is how it all started.
Soon after that was the big day, roses in full bloom, with the Mission in all it's glory as the backdrop. A gorgeous bride, the couple over the top in love, just a perfect scene. I couldn't help but notice the older handsome brother of the groom. But it was down to business, there was a beautiful wedding to photograph! Everyone was so much fun, and soon the ceremony and formal portraits were over and the guests went to take a trolley ride while I did photos with the couple. We had a lot of fun, and they invited me to be their guest at their reception. I accepted and continued on to Stella Mare's for a wonderful dinner and conversation with their family and friends.
It was time to throw the garter and the groom tossed it in the direction of his brothers, strangely there was not a pile of guys fighting to catch it as I'd seen at so many weddings before, and it actually sailed right to Randy's brother Rick. Next was the bouquet toss and Andrea told me to join the girls on the floor. I still didn't find this odd...one toss landed up in the curtain rod, after it was retrieved, the bride turned around and with the speed and precision of an NFL quarterback threw the bouquet at me. Now I understood the set up! Rick's face turned a few shades of red, and he was still too shy to come talk to me.
Somewhere over the next hour we chatted, the party moved downtown and the night turned into morning...hours of fun conversation later we were on our way to our first date the next evening. Three and a half years later Randy and Andrea stood by our side with our wedding party, just up the street where they got married, while we said our wedding vows. Their wedding day, being part of this big family, November 6th and our story will always be so special to me!

Picture Fall

Last night as October came to a close with witches, ghosts and superheroes cruising the neighborhoods, so did my 31 day photography project 'Picture Fall'. I signed up for the workshop taught by Tracey Clark of Shutter Sisters on the Big Picture Classes website. I had no idea what a great experience this workshop would be, or the amount of growth I would experience in just one month. I am warming up for a 365 day project in 2011, and have also signed up for Picture the Holidays...I'd love for you to join us! Here I share with you some of my favorite images of fall. Enjoy!
